Kakabeka Falls

Box 252, 4853 Highway 11/17, Kakabeka Falls, ON, P0T 1W0
Kakabeka Falls is one of Ontario’s most stunning natural attractions, located just outside Thunder Bay. Often called the “Niagara of the North”, it is the second-highest waterfall in the province, dropping 40 meters into the Kaministiquia River. The power and beauty of the falls make it a must-see destination for anyone visiting Northwestern Ontario.
The falls are part of Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park, which offers excellent facilities for visitors. Wooden boardwalks and viewing platforms surround the waterfall, giving safe and easy access to breathtaking views from different angles. These pathways also make the falls accessible year-round, whether you want to see the rushing spring waters, the warm summer flow, the colourful autumn backdrop, or the frozen winter spectacle.
Beyond the falls themselves, the provincial park has much to offer. Hiking trails wind through forests and along the river, allowing visitors to explore the natural landscape and enjoy peaceful walks. The park is also home to fossils that are over a billion years old, making it an area of scientific and historical importance.
Camping is available within the park, making Kakabeka Falls a great destination for both day trips and overnight stays. Families, couples, and solo travellers enjoy the picnic areas, interpretive programs, and the chance to see wildlife such as deer and birds in their natural environment.
