Neck Point Park
1055 Morningside Dr, Nanaimo, BC V9T 1N5, Canada
A scenic oceanfront park with rugged beauty and coastal charm.
Neck Point Park is one of Nanaimo’s most loved natural attractions, known for its rugged coastline, forested trails, and panoramic ocean views. Located along the city’s northern shore, this beautiful seaside park covers more than 36 acres of rocky outcrops, pebble beaches, and coastal bluffs. It’s a favourite spot for photographers, walkers, divers, and anyone who enjoys peaceful moments by the sea.
The park gets its name from the narrow “neck” of land that connects two rocky sections of the coastline. From this point, visitors can enjoy sweeping views across the Strait of Georgia to the distant mountains of mainland British Columbia. The walking trails are easy to moderate, winding through Garry oak meadows, arbutus trees, and coastal forest, making it ideal for leisurely strolls or short hikes.
Wildlife is often seen here — from seabirds and eagles to seals and sea lions offshore. Scuba divers also frequent the park, as the waters around Neck Point are known for their rich marine life and clear conditions. Several benches and picnic spots are scattered throughout the area, allowing visitors to relax and take in the fresh sea air.
Neck Point Park perfectly captures the natural beauty of Nanaimo’s coastline. It’s also a popular spot for small weddings, picnics, and family outings throughout the year. Best time to visit: Year-round, but especially stunning during sunrise or sunset.
