Walk Through Nature’s Calm in the Heart of Prince George
Located on Cranbrook Hill in Prince George, Forests for the World is a beautiful 106-hectare park that celebrates the natural heritage of Northern British Columbia. This easily accessible destination offers locals and visitors an opportunity to connect with nature without leaving the city.
The park features over 15 kilometres of well-marked trails, winding through a mix of spruce, pine, and aspen forests. These trails vary from gentle walks to moderate hikes, making them suitable for visitors of all ages. Along the way, you can find interpretive signs that describe local plant and animal species, helping visitors learn about the area’s unique ecosystem.
At the heart of the park lies Shane Lake, a peaceful spot popular for picnics, birdwatching, and photography. Benches, picnic shelters, and viewing decks make it a relaxing escape year-round — especially in summer when the lake reflects the surrounding forest.
Several viewpoints within the park offer panoramic sights of Prince George and the rolling landscape beyond. In winter, the trails are often used for snowshoeing, giving the park a new beauty under a blanket of snow.
Managed by the City of Prince George, Forests for the World stands as a living example of urban conservation, combining recreation, education, and environmental care in one scenic location.
