St. Jacobs Country Playhouse

St. Jacobs Country Playhouse is a year round live theatre near Waterloo’s St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market. It is operated by Drayton Entertainment, one of Canada’s leading professional theatre companies. The building is designed in the style of traditional Mennonite post and beam architecture, giving it a warm and rustic character.

Inside, the auditorium seats around 385–400 people. It uses a “raked” layout, which means every seat has a good view of the stage directory. Before a show and during intermission, guests can relax in an outdoor courtyard with comfortable seating. Refreshments can be pre ordered to make intermission easier.

The Playhouse stage is always full of engaging performances, ranging from Broadway style musicals and comedies to classic dramas and family pantomimes. It is known for friendly prices and regularly sells out shows like the popular Christmas pantomime. Over the years, the theatre has earned a reputation from visitors and locals alike for top notch acting and full houses.

St. Jacobs Country Playhouse has its own free parking lot, and there is accessible parking and seating for guests with disabilities. Hearing assist devices and booster seats for children are available. The box office is open weekdays with extended hours before performances.

Since opening in 2005, the theatre has become a proud part of the Waterloo region arts community. It shares a connection with the Schoolhouse Theatre in nearby St. Jacobs and brings thousands of visitors to the Market District each year.
