Onaping Falls (also known as High Falls) is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Sudbury, Ontario. Located along the Onaping River, this powerful waterfall cascades through rugged rock formations, offering breathtaking views - especially during the fall season.

This site is also famous for its connection to the Group of Seven, particularly A.Y. Jackson, who painted this exact landscape.

The Suspension Bridge: Walk across a sturdy suspension bridge that hangs directly over the gorge. Feel the mist and hear the thunderous roar of the water below.

The Viewing Platform: A fully accessible platform offers a panoramic view of the falls and the winding Onaping River.

The Ancient Rock: The dark, jagged rocks surrounding the falls are part of the Sudbury Basin, formed by a meteorite impact 1.85 billion years ago.

The Power of the Flow: While most impressive in spring and after heavy rains, the falls flow powerfully year-round.

Nature & Wildlife:

The area surrounding Onaping Falls is a haven for nature lovers. The mixed forest of maple, birch, and pine supports white-tailed deer, beavers, and over 100 species of birds. In autumn, the canyon transforms into a vibrant tapestry of red, orange, and gold — making it a premier fall foliage destination in Northern Ontario.

Note: Please respect wildlife. Do not climb the slippery rocks near the edge of the falls.
