Green Gables, located in Cavendish in the Prince Edward Island National Park, is a popular tourist destination. It is one of the most notable literary landmarks in Canada.

The Green Gables farm and its surroundings are the setting for the popular Anne of Green Gables novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The site is also known as Green Gables Heritage Centre. The house was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1985 and the complex is located within Prince Edward Island National Park.

Green Gables, part of Prince Edward Island National Park has become famous around the world as the inspiration for the setting in Lucy Maud Montgomerys classic tale of fiction, Anne of Green Gables. In real life, this farm was the home of David Jr. and Margaret Macneill, who were cousins of Mongomerys grandfather. Shortly after her death in 1942, Lucy Maud Montgomery was recognized by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada as being a person of national historic significance, and a monument and plaque were erected at Green Gables in 1948.

The farm's name is derived from the rich dark green paint of the gables on the farmhouse. The main exterior walls of the farmhouse are painted white.
